Why it matters
Anyone can hang a door.
Not everyone can make one.
Here is the thing about a bathroom.
You do not look at it. You live in it. Every morning, half awake, for years.
So the parts that matter are not the parts in the brochure. They are the edges. The line where the tile meets the plaster. The door that shuts the same way in August as it does in February. The tiled reveal with not one pipe showing.
Alan started out making furniture. Cabinets, drawers, staircases. The kind of work where a gap you could post a sheet of paper into counts as a failure.
Then he learned the rest of it. Plumbing. Tiling. Plastering. Whole barns and lofts turned into houses that people live in.
He still measures like a cabinetmaker. That is the whole pitch, and it is the only one he needs.

It began as a circle cut through a first floor and a stack of oak on the bench.
Every tread cut, jointed and fitted by hand, winding around one central post, inside a round stairwell that had to be built and plastered to match it.
You cannot order that from a catalogue. There is no flat pack version of it. There is no fitter in a van who can do it on a Thursday.
That is what a cabinetmaker's training is actually for.

What does a bathroom actually cost? +
It depends on the room, the spec and what is behind the walls, so any number quoted before someone has stood in the room is a guess. Alan looks at the job and gives you a written quote free of charge, with no obligation to go ahead.
Do I need to find other trades as well? +
No. Joinery, plumbing, tiling, plastering and the electrical work a kitchen or bathroom needs are all covered. One person to call, and one person answerable for the finish.
Can I buy my own units and just have them fitted? +
Yes. Supply and fit is available, and so is fitting the kitchen or bathroom you have already bought yourself, including an internet purchase.
Will you work with my architect? +
Yes. On conversions and larger renovations Alan works with client architects and specifiers, and maintains working relationships with local planning and building control.
How far do you travel? +
Ulverston, Barrow-in-Furness, Kirkby-in-Furness and the surrounding South Lakes and Furness area. Ask about anywhere else in Cumbria and he will tell you straight.
